well really what the flashback is, is a memory of a trip.
like the day after you trip you are trying to remember what you did or something, but all of a sudden you remember like weeks or months, sometimes years later after you are done and out of your acid phase.
i have studied a little about neurology and i think that what it is really is that your mind has certain pathways that electrical pulses that retrieve information in your memory go by and when you are thinking of something that you were doing possibly the day you were frying, the info may possibly be stored in that same region of the brain, and so that electrical pulse sweeps through a neuron and picks up a little bit of a memory of your trip. then that triggers more pulses of information and you start to feel like you are on acid again, but for just a moment when you realize you are just remembering things and you say damn that was a fun day.
but of course that is just my opinion, but there is some speculation as to if that really happens. it has happened to me thats for sure.
