LSD Fact sheet---- A Sticky?
Ok so all you kids who are looking for info on what to expect for your first trip, here is some things i have picked up on over the past 7 years of my use. And please dont question my validity, i know what im talking about, and any of this info can be found if you know where to look.
Lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD is a Semisynthetic psychoactive drug. meaning that it occurs naturally in a fungus called Ergot, but must be broken down in a laboratory to extract the actual active compound.
HISTORY
One day during research in a lab, Albert Hoffman was synthesizing some of the ergot, for research in ergot alkaloids. When he accidentally contaminated himself through vapors and through absorbing the chemical through his skin, he later reported odd feelings and felt beside himself. Some time later purposely ingested the chemical and dictated how he felt and his basic experience, which later he wrote a book called The Bicycle Ride that Changed History.
After some research on LSD and Psilocybin, some drug companies offered to therapists capsules containing either of these compounds in various doses, for the purpose of better understanding schizophrenic tendencies and other psychoactive therapies. Usually the tests came out with positive results.
During WWII and the Cold War, many tests on animals and some tests on humans proved the capabilities of mental manipulation when given massive doses to a subject. The secret CIA agency known as MK-ULTRA is known for their uses of LSD and has been accused of mind control. The truth, which I'm not justifying at all, is that they forcibly dosed patients with high amounts of LSD and forced them to endure certain tasks and documented their performance. But after WWII the US Government learned of the secret tests going on in the intelligence side of the Nazi military. They learned that there were tests of mind control going on, so they hired the Nazi scientists to continue research here in the good old USA.
Soon Britain followed suit in attempts to find a truth telling drug. But when some of this information caught wind of the public, things started to get controversial and testing was forced to stop.
In the early 60's, Harvard professor, Dr. Timothy Leary was given permission to experiment with the chemicals psychoactive capabilities. Soon he and fellow professor, Dr. Richard Alpert, found that in most patients tested, they claimed to be spiritually enlightened, and that they seemed to have found some insight into "the meaning of life".
After LSD was banned in the US in 1967, Leary and Alpert moved their research to an estate in California to continue looking into its ability for enlightenment and spirituality.
Thus a revolution of art and music followed. "The Hippie Age"
Nowadays research has continued under close governmental supervision, but nonetheless shows that LSD can and does help with mental problems, and few to no adverse health problems have been reported.
FACTS
LSD is known to be the most potent chemical of all known drugs, with reactions to as little as 20 micrograms, or 1 millionth of a gram. Your average single blotter strip will contain between 50 and 150 micrograms.
The human body does build up a tolerance to LSD somewhat rapidly, which is why most users often will recommend waiting about a week for another trip. There is also report of cross tolerance between LSD, mescaline, and psyilocbin. As for addiction, LSD is not considered to have any addictive properties, but like any other psychoactive chemical there is risk for psychological dependence, but still that risk is very low.
For most psychoactives there is no known remedy for a bad trip but some reports say that Valium can lower the effects of LSD. Also another possible remedy is administration of Niacin, although not recommended due to possible occurance of heat rash due to over expansion of blood vessels near the skin.
EFFECTS
Physical reactions to LSD are highly variable and may include the following: uterine contractions, and muscle tension or soreness are also commonly reported, and this may be a result of the drug's effect on soft tissues hyperthermia, elevated levels of blood sugar, goose bumps, increase of heart rate, jaw clenching, perspiration, pupil dialation, excessive salivation, mucus production, sleeplessness, paresthesia, euphoria (which is the purpose of LSD). Crampssuch as the uterus.
When it comes to the trip itself, every person is different when it comes to if they will have visualizations, or if they will "feel" anything at all. For most, the feeling is good, not painful, all though some activities may seem to be uncomfortable but only because the user isn't "in the mood". Sort of like "I don't feel like it". But the user's mood often will change at a moments notice. All of these effects can be expected to last from at least 4 hours and some reports as up to 15 hours for one dose of 50 to 150 micrograms.
I find that if I just sit and think about something for a few minutes, eventually I will get up and do it. Or if the group of people I am with are doing something, I will want to also. Which is another good reason why you should enjoy your trip with other people.
Dr. Leary coined the phrase "Set and Setting", meaning that the trip will most often depend on the mind set of the user. If the user is enthusiast about taking LSD and not afraid of it then more than 95% of the trips will be pleasant. And the setting means the people he/she is with, and the environment they will be in. it is mostly recommended to stay in the home and not go into public because there are too many unpredictable elements that can cause a bad trip at any time, and when in public and having a bad trip it is often hard to hide the fact that you are not yourself.
After the dose is first administered, the effects will begin on average between 30 minutes to an hour. I always say, be sure about yourself before you take another dose. LSD is a very powerful chemical that can cause powerful effects and if you arent ready for it then you can be caught off guard and just flip out and end up trying to kill your best friend. Actually no that most likely wont happen but you can soon be overwhelmed by the power of LSD if taking more than one dose. So wait it out.
Changes in aural and visual perception are common, ranging from mild to profound. These sensory changes include basic "high-level" distortions such as the appearance of moving geometric patterns, new textures on objects, blurred vision, image trailing, shape suggestibility and color variations. Users commonly report that the inanimate world appears to animate in an unexplained way; for instance, objects that are static in three dimensions can seem to be moving relative to one or more additional spatial dimensions.
Despite some physical dangers, there has never been a single recorded death from LSD use.
LSD is considered an entheogen because it often causes intense spiritual experiences where users feel they have come into contact with a greater spiritual or cosmic order. It is common for users to report insights into the way their mind works, and some users experience permanent or long-lasting changes in their life perspective. Some users consider LSD a religious sacrament, or a powerful tool for access to the divine. Many books have been written comparing the LSD trip to the state of enlightenment of eastern philosophy.
LSD is sold under a wide variety of street names including Acid, Trips, Alice Dee, 'Cid/Sid, Barrels, Blotter, Doses, Fry, "L", Liquid, Liquid A, Lucy, Microdots, Mind detergent, Orange cubes, Orange micro, Owsley, Hits, Paper acid, Sacrament, Sandoz, Sugar, Sugar lumps, Sunshine, Tabs, Ticket, Twenty-five, Wedding bells, Windowpane, etc., as well as names that reflect the designs on the sheets of blotter paper.
As for the administering of LSD I have seen people take it in many forms. Liquid, pure crystals, blotter papers, on candy, on sugar cubes, and even as far as eye drops, which I wouldn't recommend.
But if you have a blotter as you will most commonly find, I tend to use the following measures:
The morning of my planned trip, if possible, I drink a glass of milk.
About 30 minutes prior to my dose, I drink a glass of cranberry juice and smoke some weed, this will open up you blood vessels in time.
5 Minutes before I take the tab, I chew a tablet of Vitamin C
I place the Tab under my tongue and either chew some gum, or eat something sour, while keeping the tab under my tongue. It may not be comfortable but its only going to be there for a few minutes so suck it up.
After about 10 minutes of letting it sit there, I just swallow the tab.
Then I take a few sips of the cranberry juice, and I wait.
It will usually take about 30 minutes to an hour to kick in but you will definitely know that you are intoxicated, just because you have more feeling in what you are talking about or doing.
Using this method I can expect my trip to last about 10 hours on average. with the same overall feeling the whole way through.
Now after 7 years of having my fun with LSD I can say that I dont think I will stop. I have used this method for the past 4 years and I haven't had a bad trip since, and my trips are very smooth and mellow and I tend to have good thoughts and when I meditate I tend to have better visualizations.
Any other questions I will be glad to help.
