ok after raising up the inner chamber of the aquafarm i've got the answer to my question about whether or not i can move the plant to a different location of the aquafarm.
the roots have come through the small drainage holes in the inner chamber and they are now sitting in the water/nutrient...i can only assume that this is ok and part of the design but is it really ok to have the roots just sitting in water?
