On plants that are revegged you get a bunch of little bottom growth, mixed with the old bud, and old growth. It will all die, and rot if you dont take it off. That isnt going to hurt the plant, if anything it will help the plant, because it can focus on the tops now.
I am not a fan of "lollypopping" plants, I mean I dont do it. But I am always seeing people, chop all of the bottoms off of their plants, just before they flip their lights. 95% of the time, it causes no damage, and does exactly what they want it to do. The plants focus all of their energy on the tops, and end up with a shitload of big fat colas. Rarely will this cause any problems. The times that it will cause problems are when it is done, IN flowering or when someone takes too many clones off of a mum. When too much growth is pruned when the plant is flowering, it starts to think it is going to die soon, so it focuses on finishing, and you actually get less yield, instead of increasing the yield. This goes for fan leaves too. But if you just cut the bottom growth, which doesnt receive much light anyways, it rarely causes any problems.
