. The coating IS what makes the oxycodone dissolve SLOWLY. IF that coating is broken in anyway it is INSTANT RELEASE. That is why it says on the bottle not to break it because it releases "dangerous" amounts of oxycodone. Also a NAME BRAND oxycontin is not 100% time released. It in fact if swallowed WHOLE, dumps half of the oxycodone instant release... the half is extended release over 12 hours.
