Circulating the water would be a fine idea, but not something that has to be done. I do it with a small pond pump (external). I hook to the drail and fill one of the plants till it almost overflows, then I do it to the next plant. When adjusting PH I have to re-circulate a few times like this. The way I do it is real basic and safe.

I messed with the idea of a constant circulating system. It really complicated the whole system. I also found it to be unsafe. If a bucket can't drain as fast as it's being filled then it overflows. Make sure you use a very small pump to allow the system to stay balanced.

I like doing it by hand everyday. It give me a reason to hang out in there. It won't matter a bit if you dont circulate the nutrients. Single unit buckets dont circulate.
