I'm not experienced enough to be giving advice yet so cant help you there.
I'm also a UK 1st time grower (check it out its in my sig) and have gone down the 'envirolite' route to save on electricity.
I think if you want some advice from the people with the know-how on here you need to be more specific with your question. How old are your plants? what strain are they? what soil (if soil) are they in? what nutes are you using? etc.
Make it as clear as you can (photos help) and people can then help you to the best they can.
