We'll add it to the rules soon.
I just wanted to say that, yeah, I understand what you are saying. Animals should be respected and treated as a child - and thus its not a good idea to make popular the idea of getting a pet high, as it is probably unhealthy for them & may lead to people abusing their pets in this way.

But still, I don't agree that pets have no way of saying "Hey, I dont want to get high". Most pets (and most animals) have great senses of smell, especially dogs as we all know. If they didn't like it, they could easily smell the smoke and back away, indicating they don't like it. Dogs and other animals have many ways of showing us this... most pet owners know the type of response from their pet that shows such distaste. I had a rabbit and he would back away from the smell of something he didn't like. One guy in that thread also said one of his hamsters would walk up to the smoke, while the other one would turn away; so he knows which one enjoys it and which one doesn't.

I'm a strong advocate of eliminating ignorance and I think that's what should be done here. Again I understand your angle and it makes sense; society as a whole can't be expected to not get out of hand with something like this and end up putting their animal through suffering. On the other hand though, 590 people viewed that thread and there are probably several thousand other people who have read threads about getting pets high (I know I have), and those people probably read all the funny comments/stories and want to try it out on their own pets. Many people in the thread below ("getting your PETS high") said they were going to try it out and even I said so too. If I had a pet I would definitely be careful about it and not do something dumb like hotbox him/her,,, but still there is a problem with this... I don't know if it would/could potentially harm my pet even on the first time.

My point is that shutting down the pet threads is alright and everything but maybe it would be BETTER if some people who knew information about animals & marijuana could step forward, make a thread about just that, and advise us on the actual negative effects. I know rabbits cannot eat chocolate, which sounds weird, so while marijuana is relatively harmless for humans may not apply to any/all animals. If you just shut down all the pet related threads, no one will ever get the information about the possible negative effects. Then, someone who wants to try it out on their pet (having read other people's stories) will go and blow the smoke into his/her ear or nose and then bam their pet is dead. I'm not saying marijuana could kill an animal, but we don't know, and thats the key.

Maybe there is already information about this subject even in this very forum - but I haven't read it, and there are probably a LOT of people that haven't either that JUST read the thread you recently closed.

So does anyone know anything about pets & marijuana that could intelligently advise all of us on the facts, so we can use discretion with our pets?
